Holyman Chardonnay 2021

Description

Sorry this wine is now sold out | 96 Points – Gary Walsh

Stoney Rise is owned and operated by Joe and Lou Holyman who have established a reputation for making some of Tasmania’s finest wines. The 2021 Holyman Chardonnay is a wine of elegance and structure; stone fruit and citrus dominate the nose, while the palate is mouth filling and textured – finishing with customary impressive length and intensity.

Another beautifully complex Tasmanian Chardonnay that is already attracting plenty of attention, our limited stocks of the 2021 Holyman Chardonnay will not last long.

“96 Points. Struck match, almond, white peach, cinnamon spice. Very tight, grapefruit and spicy oak, plenty of acidity, powdery chalky texture, lots of zip and tang, fleshy white fruit and green apple on a long zesty finish. Very good. A bit of oak showing, and very tight now, but with latent power. The line and length thing here is outstanding. Needs a little time to settle, but a very strong release. Tasted: Sep22 12.5% alc. $60 Screwcap Drink: 2024 – 2033+”- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

“The fruit for this wine was pressed directly into 100% new 500 litre French oak puncheons. It stays in the wood for 10 months on lees before bottling in late February. The warmer 2021 vintage in the Tamar was a different one for us. Due to the warmer weather (especially at night) our wines fermented a little faster than usual, which has resulted in the wines being a little more fruit driven than the usual wines we make. I really like the approachable, almost rockmelon flavour and aroma of this wine. Its inviting a has a deceptive apparent sweetness to it that makes it immediately approachable, while there is an underlying structure to it that will allow it to be cellared with trust.”- Lou and Joe Holyman.
